Chef Fernando Cayanan was born in the Philippines but a native to Los Angeles. His culinary journey started very early on, in the humble kitchens of family and friends, where he was exposed to delicious dishes made by simple, solid cooking.

Former Executive Chef for the iconic Getty Center and Getty Villa, he shares his passion for food through recipes that celebrate culture and bring people together.
With years of catering high-profile clients throughout Southern California, I've learned that every dish is an opportunity to tell a story. My journey through the vibrant kitchens of Los Angeles has instilled in me a deep appreciation for diverse flavors and techniques from around the world.

A graduate of the Art Institute of Culinary Arts, his training spanned classical French, Spanish, American Regional, Italian and Mediterranean cuisines. After 15 years at Getty museums, he opened Marigold Bakeshop with his beloved and trusted wife, Karina, a talented pastry chef in Los Angeles. Marigold Bakeshop is a bakery during the day and a multi-functional space in the evenings, where their plan is to host events that pays homage to their love for food and culinary journey.​​

Discovering her talent at a very young age, this hobby of sorts quickly evolved as she began exploring the world of baking.
Karina is a graduate of the baking and pastry program at the Art Institute of Culinary Arts. After graduation she dove right in, working multiple jobs at a time, in addition to running a small cake business from her small apartment kitchen. As a talented pastry chef, her approach to baking is rooted in a commitment to quality and authenticity.

At Marigold Bakeshop, she bakes from scratch using the finest ingredients that allow her to showcase her talents that range from her handmade cinnamon rolls to her beautifully crafted custom cakes.
This is apparent from the positive feedback she receives from satisfied customers who return for her sweet treats regularly.
